  The tax collector is responsible for the collection of all taxes on land and buildings, motor vehicles, mobile homes; fees on small aircraft, vehicles titles and mobile home registrations, and sales/use tax on motor vehicles.

  Tag Transactions
For this office to transfer a title & tag, have the following items:

●

Original title  (signed by owner or owners as shown on the front)
●Odometer disclosure statement if vehicle is less than 10 years old
●Copy of current tag receipt if purchased from individual  (to verify no back tax is due)
●Copy of current tag receipt if purchased from individual  (to verify no back tax is due)
●

 

Window sticker with MSRP for new cars  (All 2005 models and some 2004 models)

●Copy of current tag receipt  (if purchased from an individual, to verify no back tax is due)

Seller shall remove license plate from the vehicle and surrender the tag and receipt to the tax collectors office for credit towards another tag or a certificate of credit.  No refunds.
(Bring tag within the same month the vehicle is sold)

TAG MUST BE PURCHASED WITHIN SEVEN (7) WORKING DAYS OF PURCHASE DATE OF VEHICLE TO AVOID PENALTIES

  Other Information
●Mailing Fee - $1.00  on renewals or $2.00  on new tags.
●Antique Tag - There is a one time fee of $26.00 if a current tag is issued to the vehicle.   An antique vehicle is one that is 25 years old as of October each year.  (10/2004 TO 9/2005 - 1980 and older model vehicle, beginning 10/2004 to 9/2005 - 1980 and older)
●

For 2005 model vehicles (and some 2004) - Bring the window sticker which has the manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) before options.
